Clinical psychology is an integration of science and theory with clinical knowledge for the purpose of understanding and preventing and relieving psychologically based distress or dysfunction to promote subjective wellbeing and personal development. Central to its practice are psychological assessment, clinical formulation, and psychotherapy, although clinical psychologists also engage in search, teaching, consultation and program development and administration. In many countries the clinical psychology is a regulated with mental health profession.

 Psychopathology is an essential course which companion for counselling and psychotherapy and counselling psychology trainees. It explains how to describe and diagnose client problems in clear with accessible language and demystifying the concept of psychopathology and revealing it as an integral aspect of training and practice. The book is entirely comprehensive in its coverage of client problems and group of methods of assessment with up to date research and settings.

The cognitive processes within organisms and the social interactions between creatures in the natural world are investigated by behavioural sciences. It involves the systematic analysis and investigation of human and animal behaviour through naturalistic observation, controlled scientific experimentation and mathematical modelling. Through rigorous formulations and observation, it aims to reach reasonable, objective judgments. Examples of behavioural sciences include psychology and psychobiology and  anthropology and cognitive science. People with dependent personality disorder may feel difficulty making daily decisions without any reassurance from others or may feel uncomfortable or helpless when they are alone because of fear of inability to take care of them. A personality disorder is a way of thinking and feeling and behaving that deviates from the expectations of the culture and causes distress or problems functioning and lasts over time.  

Types of Personality Disorders

  • Avoidant personality disorder: a pattern of extreme shyness and feelings of inadequacy and extreme sensitivity to criticism. People with avoidant personality disorder may be unwilling to get involved with people unless they are certain of being liked to be preoccupied with being criticized or rejected
  •  Borderline personality disorder: a pattern of instability in personal relationships, intense emotions with poor self-image and impulsivity. A person with borderline personality disorder may go to great lengths to avoid being abandoned to have repeated suicide attempts and display inappropriate intense anger or have on going feelings of emptiness.

Addiction psychiatry is a medical subspecialty within the psychiatry that focuses on the evaluation and diagnosis and treatment of people who all are suffering from one or more disorders related to addiction. This may also include to disorders which involve legal and illegal drugs and gambling and food and other impulse control

Addiction psychiatrists are substances which use disorder experts. Growing amounts of scientific knowledge such as the health effects and treatments for substance use disorders led to advancements in the field of addiction psychiatry. These advancements in understanding the neurobiology of rewarding the behaviour along with federal funding, has allowed for ample opportunity for research in the discipline of addiction psychiatry.

Adolescent Psychiatry is a peer-reviewed journal that aims to provide the mental health professionals who also work with adolescents with current information that relevant to the diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric disorders in adolescents.

Dementia is a term used to describe a group of symptoms affecting memory, thinking and social abilities severely enough to dementia. Though dementia there will be generally involves memory loss.

Psychological Trauma is a response to an event that a person finds highly stressful trauma is an emotional response to a terrible event like an accident rape or natural disaster. A traumatized person can feel the range of emotions immediately after the event in the long term. They may feel overwhelmed and helpless and shocked or have difficulty processing their experiences. Trauma can also cause physical symptoms.

Schizophrenia is a serious mental disorder in which people are interpreting reality abnormally. Schizophrenia may result in some combination of hallucinations and delusions and extremely disordered thinking and behaviour that impairs daily functioning and can be disabling.

Mental health disorder characterised by a consistently sad mood or a loss of interest in activities and resulting in considerable daily impairment.

A mix of biological, psychological, and social factors of unhappiness could be the cause. According to new research, these factors may produce changes in brain function, such as altered activation of certain neuronal circuits in the brain.

Child psychiatry, branch of medicine concerned with the study and treatment of mental, emotional, and behavioural disorders of childhood. Child psychiatry has been recognized as a division of the field of psychiatry and neurology since the mid-1920s. By about the mid-1950s, the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology had officially recognized the subspecialty and defined training and certification requirements for it. Subdivisions within the field include infant psychiatry and adolescent psychiatry.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD is marked by irrational thoughts and anxieties (obsessions that lead to obsessive behaviours. Fear of germs or the urge to organise objects in a precise order are common motifs in OCD. Symptoms normally appear gradually and change over time. Treatment options include talk therapy, medication, or a combination.

Neuropsychiatry or Organic Psychiatry is a branch of medicine that which deals with mental disorders attributable to diseases of the nervous system. It can preceded the current disciplines of psychiatry and neurology which had common training  however, psychiatry and neurology have subsequently split apart and are typically practiced separately. Nonetheless, neuropsychiatry is a rapidly expanding specialisation of psychiatry, with significant relations to the disciplines of neuropsychology and behavioural neurology.


Psychoanalysis is defined as a set of psychological theories and therapeutic techniques that which have their origin in the work with theories of Sigmund Freud. The core of psychoanalysis is the belief that all people possess unconscious thoughts feelings and desires and memories.


Psychosis is a condition which affects the way your brain processes information. It can cause you to lose touch with reality. You might see and hear or believe things that which aren’t real. Psychosis is a symptom not an illness. A mental or physical illness and substance abuse or extreme stress or trauma can cause it.

Psychotic disorders like schizophrenia which involve psychosis that usually affects you for the first time in the late teen years or early adulthood.

Suicide prevention has collection of efforts which reduce the risk of suicide. It is often avertible and the efforts to prevent it and may occur at the individual relationship and community and society level.

It is a serious public health problem that can have long lasting effects on individuals and families and communities. The good news is that suicide is preventable and it requires strategies at all levels of society. Everyone can help to prevent suicide by learning the warning signs and promoting anticipation and resilience and a committing to social change.

 

Brain stimulation therapies can play a role in treating a certain mental disorders and it will involve in activating or inhibiting the brain directly to the electricity. The electricity can be given directly to electrodes implanted in the brain and noninvasively through electrodes which placed on the scalp. The electricity can also be induced by using magnetic fields which applied to the head. While these types of therapies are less frequently used than medication and psychotherapies and they hold to promise for treating certain mental disorders that do not respond to other treatments.

An Eating disorder is a mental disorder is an abnormal eating behaviour that negatively affect to the person’s physical or mental health. the afflicted eats a large amount in a short period of time anorexia nervosa and where the person afflicted has an intense fear of gaining weight and restricts food or over exercises to manage this fear in bulimia nervosa and where afflicted individuals eat a large quantity then try to rid themselves of the food where it afflicted eats non-food items and rumination syndrome.
